UGA Fights Back Against Slut-Shaming

Our student leaders at the University of Georgia don’t mess around when it comes to sex negative messages in the media. An article was recently published in their student newspaper denigrating and slut-shaming women for what they wear. Fortunately, our chapter didn’t let this slide. They got organized and mobilized the student body to speak out against the article. After dozens of comments, emails and letters to the editor, the school newspaper asked them to write a response article. And that’s exactly what they did. They used this as an opportunity to create awareness and talk about the consequences of slut-shaming and victim-blaming with this article.
