CALL CONGRESS: STOP ABORTION COVERAGE BANS

The House of Representatives just passed H.R. 7, a bill that withholds coverage for abortion care for people enrolled in Medicaid, insurance plans on the healthcare exchange, and public employee healthcare plans. These restrictions have a real impact on individuals and families by limiting their ability to access abortion care when they need it. The bill is now heading to the Senate and it’s time for us to show our power and flood their phones with unapologetic, pro-abortion rage!

Make your voice heard – Call both you Senators and ask them to vote NO on H.R. 7.

Here’s how you do it:

1. Find your Members of Congress: http://www.contactingthecongress.org/  *Be sure you use the address where you are registered to vote!

Write down the name of your Senators and call the number below.

2. Call the Congressional switchboard: 202-224-3121 and ask to speak to your Senator’s office.

3. Ask them to vote NO on H.R. 7. Here is a sample script you can use:

Hi, my name is ______________. I am a (name of your state) resident and student at _______________________. I’m calling because I wanted to express concern about a Federal Bill that was recently proposed, which is trying to ban abortion coverage for people who receive healthcare through Medicaid and other federal programs. Can I give you that message?

Great. I believe that no one should have their decision about abortion made for them because they can’t afford medical care. When Medicaid covers pregnancy care but denies coverage for abortion, we’re taking away a person’s ability to make important, personal decisions based on what is best for their circumstances. HR 7 is unfair and targets the most vulnerable people in our community.

The House just passed H.R. and I’m asking that the Senator vote no when it’s his/her/their turn.

Thank you,
