URGE in San Marcos and Texas State University has been around since 2017. As an organization open to students and non-students in the Hays County area, they are led by young people of color who are queer, non-binary, trans, women, and of low-income. They analyze the issues affecting their campus, communities and lives through an intersectional lens and develop leadership skills through social justice, community service and political activism.
