Jaz González (she/ella, they/elle)

Digital Campaigns Manager

Jaz is a queer Tejana activist hailing from the beautiful Rio Grande Valley, but now living in Central Texas. She is a UT-RGV Alum where they first got involved with URGE as a Chapter Leader back in 2015. They started working as the Texas Organizer in 2016, then transitioned to the Texas Coordinator in 2018. Jaz made another internal transition to Digital Campaigns Manager in 2020. Jaz has lead bold and innovative issue-based campaigns in Texas. Ranging from fighting the border wall, to increasing abortion access, to educating people on the difference between sex work and sex trafficking. She has lead culture shift work in Texas around these issues in addition to doing voter engagement around these issues. Jaz’s movement work has been informed by their border life experiences as well as her previous campaign work around the local anti-fracking movement in the RGV, abortion access, comprehensive sex ed, undocumented students’ rights, LGBTQ youth safety, and HIV awareness. Jaz was also a 2015 Reproductive Rights Activist Service Corps Intern at the Colorado Organization for Latina Opportunity and Reproductive Rights (COLOR). In their free time Jaz can be found spending time with her little mutt, James and driving to Texas State Parks. Jaz uses they/them/elle and she/her/ella pronouns.
