Taking care of her grandmother has changed the way Allison Sowle looks at a lot of things, including voting.

Before becoming a caregiver, it was easy to think about healthcare, aging, transportation, policy changes and community resources as big issues that existed somewhere outside of her everyday life. But the act of caregiving made them deeply personal.

She started observing how hard it can be to get answers, understand systems, advocate for someone, and make sure the person you love is actually being seen and cared for.

It made her realize that the personal is always political.
