Different Name, Same Us
For 23 years, you and all the young people we work for and with guided our organization. And as you grew to view the issues related to reproductive justice in a more complex and interconnected way, so did we. We knew that you were still fiercely committed to choice, but that working for choice is not possible without widening our scope to include all of the issues that impact any person’s ability to choose. That’s why we decided to make a change — a big one, but it didn’t change a thing about who we are and what we do.
In 2014, we changed our name to URGE: Unite for Reproductive & Gender Equity to represent the work that we were already doing and the issues you already cared about. We are still the same organization —catalyzing the power of young people to fight for the ability of all people to build the families they want, access the healthcare they need, and to live and love in the way that’s true to who they are.
