Abortion Reversal is Not a Thing
Greetings, from your local policy nerds at URGE. We’ve got some news: “abortion reversal” is not a thing. You might be thinking “what the heck is that?”, or “those are some words I have not seen together before”, or “yeah, I already knew that.” Well, you know who doesn’t know that abortion reversal is not a thing? The Trump Administration. Scott Lloyd, head of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), reportedly floated the idea of trying “abortion reversal” to stop the abortion of Jane Doe, a young immigrant held in ORR custody (don’t worry, Jane Doe got her abortion, despite the government fighting her every step of the way). 2018 Resolutions
Believe it or not, 2017 is drawing to a close! The New Year is a time for us to reflect on the year behind us and also think about our resolutions for 2018. A bright, shiny new year in which the government will fully fund abortion, stop shaming young people for their sexual health choices, and generally just be functional (ok maybe not, but we are speaking it into existence.) DACA and the Budget
We already know that immigration is a reproductive justice issue. We know that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Program was created to protect undocumented children brought to the us by their parents. We know the Trump Administration is ending DACA. And we know that the DREAM Act is the best way to give these over 800,000 DACAmented folks a path to permanent citizenship in the US. But here’s the question – how exactly will this DREAM Act get passed? The short answer: the Congressional Budget for fiscal year 2018, which must be passed in December. And guess what?
